Katie Balis, a freelance wardrobe stylist specializing in bridal styling, is based in Los Angeles, CA. Katie’s experience in the fashion industry, where she styles on set for editorial and print advertisement campaigns is the foundation for the KISMET PROJECT brand and concept. Katie has a genuine talent for working one-on-one with friends, family and clients, and saw a void in the wedding market… The wedding day involves multiple experts - from the  photographer to the hair stylist, makeup artist, and wedding planner (or producer) each carrying out their specific function for a flawless day. However, weddings were missing a key element; the stylist, with an expertise in fashion to seamlessly integrate wardrobe with the overall aesthetic of the wedding. With her vast knowledge of the bridal and ready-to-wear markets, critical experience working on set alongside top photographers and creative directors, and passion to connect personally with clients, Katie launched the KISMET PROJECT in 2019. As a woman’s wedding day is often her only day to feel ‘red carpet’ ready, Katie founded the KISMET PROJECT aiming to ensure every bride feels confident, beautiful, and stress free as she begins a new chapter in her life.

Before starting the KISMET PROJECT, Katie was a freelance wardrobe stylist and LOHO bridal stylist in Los Angeles, CA. She freelanced on print campaign shoots for fashion brands including Levi’s, Citizens of Humanity, A.L.C. & Victoria’s Secret, and assisted on editorials for prominent industry leaders including ELLE, Glamour, PORTER Edit & C Magazine. Katie began styling at LOHO in Los Angeles rounding out her knowledge of the wedding industry and becoming an expert on bridal designers. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami studying marketing, public relations and sociology. Katie spent a semester studying in Paris with a focus on the history of Haute Couture and international marketing. Katie combines her innate sense of wanderlust and experience living in St. Louis, Miami, Paris & LA to highlight designers from around the globe in her work and personal aesthetic.

Katie feels passionately that there is a specific effect that occurs in a woman’s life when her soul identity and joie de vivre align- a la the KISMET PROJECT.
